[edit] NRE - Staff UI
[edit] How do Patron Request Limits work in Navigator?
[edit] How does the limit in NRE work?
Currently we do not have a method to stop patrons from submitting request at the point of entry. This enhancement that has been approved and should be implemented soon.
[edit] Does it limit active requests?
NRE counts active requests, these are requests that are not completed.
[edit] Can we set a limit of total requests for a time period?
Request are counted on a rolling date period. For example a common configuration is to allow a patron to place 10 request over a 30 day period. NRE will only count the request that are not completed within the last 30 days.
Another example would to allow patrons to place 100 request every 6 months (180 days)
[edit] If a patron hits the limit, does it block then and there or send to the idle/check manual queue.
NRE can only count a request when it receives the request. If a patron places a request that exceeds their limit the request will go into Idle/Check Manual category in the work queue. A site "Patron Exceeded Request Limit" action can be setup to to send the patron an email alert and complete the request.
[edit] We have a limit in ILLiad – 10 active requests. What happens if it sends something to ILLiad?
Waiting for ILLiad support to respond to this question.
[edit] That also brings up the case of what happens when a patron requests something through Navigator and is using the Circ Gateway/NCIP, but has already met their limit of holds allowed by the ILS. When Navigator tries to place the hold for the patron, will it be unable to do so?
Correct, the ILS will return an error if the hold cannot be placed. These request will be placed in the "Staff Review" category in the work queue and will need to be manually dealt with by staff.
